The school lies at the foot of Xishan in Shijingshan District of Beijing, enjoying a quiet and green campus. The school occupies a total area of 50,000m2, including 27,000m2 construction area. Ever since its founding in 1995, the school has been offering such majors as dancing, acting, music, fine arts and program hosting. The school was honored “Advanced Unit in Education” by Shijingshan District Committee and Government twice.  On December 6th, 2004, it was awarded “Advanced Unit in Education” in the first public appraisal organized by Beijing Education Commission to honor private education units.

For the 11 years development, the school has always been orienting to the market with the concept of development through service and quality for the benefits of the students. The school also adheres to the teaching reform of the marginalization of arts. In order to efficiently solve the problem of employment, the school has developed a strategy to recommend and publicize the students in an all-round way. Entrusted by China Service Center for the Youth Development, China Promotional Committee of Art and Culture and Beijing Association of Private Education in July 2005, the school undertook 2005 China Promotion of Young Talents in Arts, which built a bridge for young artists and the employers. Li Wenge, director of China Service Center for Youth Development and Du Songpeng, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education presented at the promotion and delivered important speeches. Both the establishment of the mechanism of press conference for the graduates and the expansion of the promotion of young talents in arts reflect that the school has implemented the strategy to recommend its students in an all-round way.

In 2005, the school has successfully celebrated its 10th anniversary with the prospect to build an international school and establish the school a famous brand in China to embrace another promising 10 years for Shengji. On August 30th, 2005, Simayi Aimaiti, Vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress wrote for the 10th anniversary “Attach importance to private art education, and cultivate excellent artists.” At the 10th anniversary celebration, Zhu Quanjun, deputy director of Beijing Education Committee of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Beijing Municipal Education Commission delivered a kind and generous speech. He encouraged the staff and students to continue their concerted and unyielding efforts to make a greater success. Tian Liyue, secretary of the Education Committee of ShijingShan District Party Committee also presented at the celebration and expressed congratulations upon the anniversary. The school also held the commemorative party at the theatre of China-Show and the commemorative party of Xishan in My Dream at Beijing Palace of Nationalities. All the schoolfellows and students’ parents presented felt greatly encouraged and applauded the achievements of the school.

The school also persists in the principle of teaching and learning practices. The staff and the students participated in a considerable number of performances in 2005 and made great achievements. In the 9th Dancing Competition in Beijing, the solo dance “My Heart Is Flying” performed by Wuren Qiqige was awarded the golden prize of production and performance. Another program “5 HundredYears” was awarded the silver prize. The drama “Warrior” created by the drama department was performed in public in Beijing and Qingdao and achieved a great success. The drama “Van Gogh” created by the drama department gave public performance in Beijing and was awarded at the 2005 College Students Drama Festival. In 2005, the school undertook the final for the 3rd National Fashion Competition as well as the final for North China of the first China Model Competition. Our student Guan Mengyuan was awarded the first prize. Also worth noticing is that the delegation led by principal Jing Yue gave special performances in Washington, Atlanta and Charlotte and received warm welcome by the American audiences and overseas Chinese. This activity was another success following the ones performed in Indonesia and South Korea.

In conclusion, stage performance and international cultural exchange have greatly promoted the initiative and creativity of the staff and the students, and have helped to create an art environment in Shengji. The Shenjiers believe that the school will have a better future.
